Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 3 Tbsp. oleo or butter
- 1 lb. unroasted peanuts
Method
- Butter 2 cookie sheets.
- Keep warm.
- Mix baking soda, water and vanilla.
- Mix sugar, 1 cup water and syrup in 3-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to 240° or forms soft ball in cold water.
- Stir in oleo and peanuts.
- Cook, stirring always, to 300° or in brittle threads.
- Don't let it burn.
- Quickly add baking soda to mixture until light and foamy.
- Pour candy onto cookie sheets.
- Cool and break into pieces.
- Makes about 6 dozen candies.
