Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake
  • 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Mix the cake according to directions.
  • Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan and pour 1/2 the batter into pan.
  • Put this half of cake in oven and bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt caramels with butter and milk.
  • Remove cake from oven and pour the caramel mixture over the half-baked cake.
  • Top with chocolate chips and pecans.
  • Pour remaining cake mix over the top and return to oven.
  • Bake at 350° for another 20 minutes.
