Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic
  • 2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1 medium diced white onion
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 2 (14 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1/4 c. chopped hot peppers (originally I used pickled hot pepper rings) or 2 Tbsp. chopped habanero peppers*

Method

  • In a 2-quart saucepan, with medium heat, saute onions, crushed red peppers, garlic and oregano in margarine until the onions are tender.
  • Add the hot peppers and then brown the ground turkey in this mixture.
  • Add the chili powder and mix thoroughly.
  • Then add the stewed tomatoes, chopping them with the spatula until they are broken up.
  • Simmer under low heat for at least 30 minutes.
