Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. lean ground beef
  • 3/4 c. finely chopped, peeled onion
  • 1/2 tsp. minced, peeled garlic
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano leaves
  • 8 oz. part skim Mozzarella cheese, grated or chopped
  • 1 lb. small curd cottage cheese
  • 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen spinach, thawed and thoroughly drained
  • 4 oz. lasagna noodles (6 noodles, cooked according to pkg. directions and drained)

Method

  • In a large skillet, brown meat over moderate heat, stirring with a spoon to break up.
  • Using a slotted spoon, remove meat to a bowl or plate.
  • Pour off all but 1 teaspoon fat from the skillet. Add onion and garlic; cook 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until softened.
