Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped green pepper
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 can (28 oz.) tomatoes with liquid, cut up
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 c. celery

Method

  • In a medium skillet saute onions, pepper and celery until tender.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Simmer 5 to 10 minutes. Make dumplings.
  • Add to bubbling mixture by tablespoons.
  • Cover tightly and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes.
