- 100 gm butter
- 100gm dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup ground almond
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup Self Raising Flour
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- Chocolate Sauce
- 150ml heavy cream
- 150gm dark chocolate
- 2 or more tbsp sugar (to taste)
Method
- Preheat oven to 180C (350F) and grease and line a 22cm round cake tin.
- Melt the butter, dark chocolate and cream in a pot. Bring to simmer then remove from the heat.
- Add the sugar, ground almond, milk, vanilla extract and eggs to the chocolate mixture and mix well.
- Add in the sifted flours and pour into the greased and lined cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 - 60 minutes.
- Chocolate Sauce
- While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate sauce. Bring the cream slowly to a boil and remove from the heat. Add in the dark chocolate and sugar (to taste). Cool before spreading over the cooled cake.
