Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. rolled oats
  • 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. melted butter
  • 1 (22 oz.) pkg. brownie mix
  • 1 c. nuts

Method

  • Mix oats, sugar, flour, soda and salt in a bowl.
  • Stir in melted butter.
  • Reserve 3/4 cup of mixture.
  • Pat oatmeal mixture in bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350°. Cool 5 minutes.
  • Prepare brownie mix, using the fudgey recipe instead of the cake recipe on the box.
  • Add
  • the nuts.
  • Spread batter evenly over baked crust.
  • Sprinkle with reserved oatmeal mixture.
  • Bake according to package directions.
  • Cool, cut in squares.
