Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. broken pecans or walnut pieces

Method

  • In bowl, beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar, vinegar and vanilla.
  • Continue beating until very stiff.
  • Fold in nuts.
  • Drop by teaspoonful on greased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 300° for 15 to 20 minutes or until firm. (Cookies should remain light colored.)
  • Cool on wire rack.
  • Makes about 3 1/2 dozen small cookies.
