Ingredients
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 4 eggs
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- sifted powdered sugar
Method
- Beat together butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in vanilla; add eggs, one at a time, blending well after each addition. Combine flour with baking soda and salt; add to batter alternately with buttermilk; beginning and ending with flour.
- Butter and flour an 8-cup fluted mold.
- Pour in batter.
- Bake at 350° for about 1 1/2 hours or until a tester inserted in center comes out clean. Allow cake to stand 5 minutes inverted; remove cake from pan and finish cooling on a cake rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
