Ingredients
- 1 large chicken, cut in pieces
- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
- 1 (7 oz.) bottle taco sauce
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. minced onion
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 1/4 tsp. garlic
- 2 c. (8 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
Method
- Brown chicken in oil; spoon off fat.
- Mix sauce ingredients and pour over chicken (all ingredients except cheese).
- Reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer for 30 minutes until chicken tests done. Place chicken in ungreased pan (13 x 9-inch) and sprinkle cheese on top.
- Bake at 400°, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Uncover and bake an additional 20 minutes.
- Can be made ahead.
- If kept longer than 24 hours, freeze.
- Serve with noodles.
- Serves 4 or 5.
