Ingredients

  • 1 large chicken, cut in pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 (7 oz.) bottle taco sauce
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic
  • 2 c. (8 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Brown chicken in oil; spoon off fat.
  • Mix sauce ingredients and pour over chicken (all ingredients except cheese).
  • Reduce heat.
  • Cover and simmer for 30 minutes until chicken tests done. Place chicken in ungreased pan (13 x 9-inch) and sprinkle cheese on top.
  • Bake at 400°, covered, for 10 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake an additional 20 minutes.
  • Can be made ahead.
  • If kept longer than 24 hours, freeze.
  • Serve with noodles.
  • Serves 4 or 5.
