Ingredients

  • 1 pound grnd beef
  • 3/4 c. bread and cracker crumbs
  • 1 sm. onion, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c. cream or possibly lowfat milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 c. oil or possibly butter
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. red wine

Method

  • Combine meat, crumbs, onion, egg, cream and salt.
  • Shape into small balls.
  • Roll in flour and drop in warm oil in skillet, a few at a time.
  • Brown well and transfer into bowl.
  • Blend flour with remaining oil and stir in wine, water, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cook and stir till smooth.
  • Put meat balls back into gravy and simmer for 30 min.
  • Serves 4.
