Ingredients
- 1 pound grnd beef
- 3/4 c. bread and cracker crumbs
- 1 sm. onion, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 c. cream or possibly lowfat milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 c. oil or possibly butter
- 3 tbsp. flour
- 2 c. water
- 1 c. red wine
Method
- Combine meat, crumbs, onion, egg, cream and salt.
- Shape into small balls.
- Roll in flour and drop in warm oil in skillet, a few at a time.
- Brown well and transfer into bowl.
- Blend flour with remaining oil and stir in wine, water, salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook and stir till smooth.
- Put meat balls back into gravy and simmer for 30 min.
- Serves 4.
