Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 6 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick melted butter

Method

  • Mix yeast, sugar and warm water in 2-cup measuring cup.
  • Let this rise to top of cup.
  • Mix boiling water, Crisco, sugar and salt in large bowl; stir until Crisco melts.
  • Add yeast mixture.
  • Add beaten eggs.
  • Beat in flour.
  • Cover bowl and let rise until double. Punch bread down and turn out on floured wax paper.
  • Knead like biscuits.
  • Roll out and cut with small cutter.
  • Dip each piece in melted butter.
