Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 whole shallot, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger root, minced
  • 1/4 cup sake
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Asian chile sauce
  • 1 cup tomatoes, crushed

Method

  • Heat oil over medium heat in a saucepan.
  • Add garlic, shallots and ginger.
  • Saute for 30 seconds and add crushed tomatoes, sake, sugar and chile sauce.
  • Simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Remove sauce from heat and set aside.
  • When cool, puree in blender until smooth.
  • Reheat to serve.
