Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. softened margarine
  • 1/3 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1 1/4 c. granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. dark Karo syrup
  • 2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Combine
  • first 4
  • ingredients;
  • set aside. Beat margarine, Karo
  • syrup, Crisco shortening, 1 cup of the granulated sugar and the egg
  • until
  • fluffy.
  • Add the dry ingredients and the
  • ginger. Mix well.
  • Roll
  • into
  • balls
  • and
  • roll
  • in
  • the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar
  • and the cinnamon. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or lightly browned.
