Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 large onions
  • 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. melted Crisco
  • Crisco for frying

Method

  • Clean onions; cut into 1/4-inch slices and separate into rings.
  • Combine slightly beaten egg yolk and milk.
  • Add flour, salt and 1 tablespoon melted Crisco.
  • Mix until smooth.
  • Dip onion rings in batter.
  • Fry in 3/4 inch Crisco heated to 375° in an electric skillet.
  • Cook until lightly browned.
  • Drain on paper towel.
  • Serve hot.
