Ingredients
- 3 to 4 large onions
- 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. melted Crisco
- Crisco for frying
Method
- Clean onions; cut into 1/4-inch slices and separate into rings.
- Combine slightly beaten egg yolk and milk.
- Add flour, salt and 1 tablespoon melted Crisco.
- Mix until smooth.
- Dip onion rings in batter.
- Fry in 3/4 inch Crisco heated to 375° in an electric skillet.
- Cook until lightly browned.
- Drain on paper towel.
- Serve hot.
