- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. onion, chopped
- 1 c. green pepper, chopped
- 1 large can tomato puree
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. red pepper
- 1/8 tsp. paprika
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 can (15 oz.) dark red kidney beans
Method
- In Dutch oven, cook beef, onion and green pepper until beef is browned and the onion is tender.
- Drain off fat.
- Add tomatoes and their tomato juice and spices.
- Heat to the boil, reduce heat and cover; simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Add kidney beans; heat thoroughly.
- Makes four servings.
- Garnish with grated Cheddar cheese, if desired.
