Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1 c. green pepper, chopped
  • 1 large can tomato puree
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. red pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. paprika
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 can (15 oz.) dark red kidney beans

Method

  • In Dutch oven, cook beef, onion and green pepper until beef is browned and the onion is tender.
  • Drain off fat.
  • Add tomatoes and their tomato juice and spices.
  • Heat to the boil, reduce heat and cover; simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Add kidney beans; heat thoroughly.
  • Makes four servings.
  • Garnish with grated Cheddar cheese, if desired.
