Ingredients
- 2 c. water
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. milk
- 6 whole apples, pared and cored
Method
- For syrup, mix water, sugar and cinnamon.
- Cook for 5 minutes (simmer), then add butter.
- While syrup is cooking, in a bowl put flour and shortening.
- Cut shortening into flour until it resembles coarse bread crumbs.
- Add milk all at once.
- Stir until moistened.
