Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 12 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1/3 c. rice

Method

  • Shred cabbage.
  • In 5-quart Dutch oven over medium heat in hot salad oil, cook cabbage and salt until very tender.
  • Add water, if needed.
  • Cook hamburger and onion together; stir in spaghetti sauce, rice and water.
  • Cover and simmer until rice is tender about 20 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Into 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish, spoon 1/2 meat sauce mixture.
  • Top with 1/2 cabbage and 1/2 cheese; repeat layers.
  • Bake 20 to 30 minutes.
