Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. Crisco
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon extract
  • powdered sugar

Method

  • Preheat oven to 325°.
  • Blend Crisco and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well.
  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add with milk, vanilla and lemon extract to shortening-sugar mix. Beat until smooth.
  • Grease and flour a tube pan.
  • Put batter in pan.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until cake tests done.
  • Cool completely.
  • Sprinkle cake with powdered sugar.
