Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. oleo
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. chopped green peppers
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. canned peas, drained
  • 1/2 c. shredded carrot
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. flour

Method

  • Make pastry with 2 1/2 cups of flour.
  • Melt butter in skillet. Add onion, green peppers and beef; brown lightly.
  • Add peas and carrots and sprinkle with salt, pepper and 3 tablespoons of flour. Stir well.
  • Divide pastry dough in half.
  • Roll each into a 12-inch circle.
  • Moisten edges of dough with water.
  • Fold pastry over filling like a giant turnover and press edges together to seal.
  • Cut open design for escape of steam.
  • Bake in a very hot oven (450°) for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to moderate (375°) and continue baking for 20 minutes.
