Ingredients
- 1 German chocolate cake mix
- 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
Method
- Heat oven to 350°.
- Melt caramels, butter and milk in a double boiler, set aside.
- Prepare cake mix as directed on package.
- Pour half the batter into a greased and floured oblong pan.
- Bake 15 minutes.
- Remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture over top. Next sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over caramel layer.
- Now pour rest of cake batter on top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 325°.
- Cool cake 20 minutes before serving.
- Spoon a generous amount of Cool Whip on top when serving.
