Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 12 carrot
  • 12 slice bacon
  • garlic clove
  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 3 ounces minced beef
  • 0.5 (8 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons tomato puree
  • 12 beef stock cube
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1 pinch dried herbs

Method

  • Peel and chop the onion.
  • Peel and chop or grate the carrot.
  • Chop the bacon.
  • Peel, chop and crush the garlic clove.
  • Fry the onion and bacon gently in the oil or fat in a saucepan, stirring until the onion is soft (2-3 minutes).
  • Add the minced beef and continue cooking, stirring until it is lightly browned.
  • Add the carrot, tinned tomatoes (or chopped fresh ones), tomato puree (or ketchup), stock cube and water (or the soup) stirring well.
  • Add the salt, pepper, sugar, and herbs.
  • Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20-30 minutes, until the meat is tender.
