Ingredients

  • 1 14 cups boiling water
  • 8 ounces dates, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 34 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 13 cup sugar
  • 12 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 12 cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1 12 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 14 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened

Method

  • In a large bowl, pour boiling water on dates.
  • Stir in 1 tsp baking soda.
  • Cool about 15 minutes.
  • Make chocolate chip topping ( mix all ingredients ).
  • Set aside.
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F .
  • Stir remaining ingredients into date mixture.
  • Pour into greased 9X13-inch pan.
  • Sprinkle with topping.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before serving ( about 2 hours ).
