Ingredients
- 2 packs yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Beat 1 cup flour into cooled milk.
- Beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and salt. Beat well.
- Add the milk-flour combination and the yeast.
- Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour until it forms a soft, not stiff dough.
- Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Place in greased bowl.
- Cover and let rise until doubled.
- Turn out on floured pastry cloth.
- Press into 8 x 16-inch rectangle.
- Cut in strips 2/3-inch wide by 8-inch.
- Makes 24.
