Ingredients

  • 3 large green peppers
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. dry bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Cut thin slices from stem end of each pepper.
  • Remove all seeds and membranes.
  • Wash inside and outside. Heat 1 c. water and 1/2 tsp. salt to boiling.
  • Add peppers and cook 5 minutes and drain.
  • Mix remaining ingredients.
  • Lightly stuff each pepper with 1/3 of the meat mixture.
  • Stand peppers upright in ungreased 8x8x2 inch baking dish.
  • Cover and bake 45 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake additional 15 minutes.
  • Makes 2-3 servings.
