Ingredients
- 2 lb. sliced squash
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 can cream of celery soup
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 to 1 c. cracker crumbs
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 lb. hamburger meat
- 1/2 c. cheese (Cheddar or American)
Method
- Slice squash and chop onion; put both in saucepan with enough water to cover vegetables.
- Boil until tender.
- Take 1 pound hamburger and brown in skillet with a little salt.
- Drain the grease from the meat and the water off the squash and onion.
- In separate bowl mash the squash and onion; add hamburger meat, soup and cheese.
- Add crackers and egg.
- Mix well; add salt and pepper to taste.
- Spoon into casserole dish and top with crushed crackers.
- Bake at 350° until cheese melts and casserole browns good.
