Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
  • 1 lb. boneless sirloin steak, cut into thin strips
  • oil

Method

  • In large shallow glass baking dish, blend sugar, soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic powder and pepper; add beef and turn to coat. In a large skillet, heat 1/2 inch oil to 350°. Fry beef in three batches until brown and crisp.
  • Remove with slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. Garnish, if desired, with sliced green onions and crushed red pepper.
