Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking pwdr
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. grnd cloves
- 1/2 tsp. grnd cinnamon
- 1 c. unsweetened applesauce
Method
- Cream together the shortening and sugar.
- Add in egg; mix thoroughly.
- Sift flour, then measure.
- Sift measured flour with salt, baking soda, baking pwdr, and spices.
- Add in dry ingredients to creamed shortening and sugar, alternating with applesauce, then dry ingredients, etc, till all is combined.
- Drop by tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets and bake in a preheated 375
