Ingredients

  • 3/4 to 1 lb. spaghetti (whole wheat)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 3 Tbsp. McKay's beef style seasoning* or 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 c. TVP (optional)
  • TVP mixture (optional)
  • 1 (29 oz.) can tomato puree
  • 1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 2 1/2 tsp. oregano leaves
  • 2 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp. honey (optional)
  • 2 qt. water

Method

  • Saute onions, pepper, celery, 2 tablespoons water and 1/2 tablespoon salt in skillet for 10 minutes.
  • Heat 1 1/2 cups water to almost boiling.
  • Add beef style seasoning or soy sauce and TVP. Add TVP mixture, tomato puree, tomato paste, oregano leaves, sweet basil, garlic powder and honey to sauteed vegetables.
