Ingredients
- 2 lb. bulk Italian sausage (I always use Hillshire Farm hot and spicy)
- 2 c. chopped onion
- 2 cloves minced garlic or 1 tsp. dried, minced garlic
- 2 (28 oz.) cans whole tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, undrained
- 1 tsp. oregano leaves
- 2 c. chopped green pepper
- 12 oz. can tomato paste
- 2 tsp. basil leaves
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper (if desired)
Method
- Brown sausage, onion, green pepper and garlic. Drain.
- Add the remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered.
- I let this cook for hours on low. The longer it cooks, the better it is.
