Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 tablespoons vegetable shortening chilled and cut into cubes
- 3 tablespoons butter chilled and cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 7 1/16 tablespoons sharp cheddar cheese
Method
- Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.
- In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda.
- With your fingertips rub shortening and butter to the flour mix until well combined. Then gradually stir in buttermilk.
- Spoon 8 balls of the dough to the baking sheet. Sprinkle with cheese on top.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until lightly brown on top.
