Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans baked beans
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. catsup
  • 2 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • hot sauce to taste

Method

  • Brown diced bacon in large skillet.
  • Remove bits from drippings and reserve for garnish.
  • Saute onions in bacon drippings until tender.
  • Add remaining ingredients and stir until mixture begins to bubble.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes.
  • Garnish with bacon bits before serving.
  • Makes 8 servings.
