Ingredients

  • 8 oz. mostaccioli (3 1/2 c.)
  • 1 1/2 lb. bulk pork sausage
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 6 oz. shredded American cheese (1 1/2 c.)

Method

  • Cook pasta according to package directions.
  • Drain.
  • In skillet, cook sausage, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is brown and onion is tender.
  • Drain off fat.
  • Stir undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, water, oregano and pepper into mixture in skillet.
  • Stir in cooked pasta.
  • Spoon half of the mostaccioli mix into a 3-quart casserole.
  • Sprinkle with half the cheese.
  • Top with remaining mostaccioli mix.
  • Bake in 350° oven for 35 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Bake about 5 minutes more or until the cheese melts.
  • Makes 8 servings.
