Ingredients
- 1 lb. sauerkraut (canned or bulk)
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 tart apple, finely chopped
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 or 2 c. cubed ham or frankfurters
- 6 or 8 small potatoes, parboiled
Method
- Drain sauerkraut and press out all liquid.
- Saute onion in margarine until transparent.
- Add sauerkraut and rest of ingredients to onion.
- Simmer on low heat at least 30 minutes. Serve immediately or transfer to casserole and refrigerate.
- When ready to serve, heat at 300° for 20 to 30 minutes or in microwave 6 to 7 minutes.
