Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. melted, cooled shortening
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 6 1/2 c. flour

Method

  • Melt the shortening and set aside to cool.
  • Mix yeast with the lukewarm water in mixing bowl and stir until completely dissolved. Add salt, sugar, cooled, melted shortening and beaten egg; stir. Add flour and mix.
  • Cover with wrap paper and let rise even with top of bowl.
  • After rising, roll dough using enough flour to keep from being sticky.
  • Cut out rolls with cutter and put in greased bread pan; let rise again.
  • Bake at 350° until done.
  • Pat butter on top while still warm.
