Ingredients

  • 5 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 4 Tbsp. hot water

Method

  • Mix dry ingredients; cut in shortening.
  • Add buttermilk and yeast that has been dissolved in hot water.
  • Put in oiled bowl in refrigerator.
  • You don't have to wait for rising.
  • Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.
  • Bake at 425° for 10 minutes.
  • It is better the second day.
  • The dough will keep a week in the refrigerator.
