Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. soft shortening

Method

  • In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
  • Add sugar, salt and about 1/2 the flour.
  • Beat thoroughly 2 minutes.
  • Add egg and shortening.
  • Beat in remaining flour gradually until smooth.
  • Let rise 30 minutes in a warm place.
  • Stir down batter and drop into greased medium muffin pans.
  • Let rise 10 minutes.
  • Bake 10 minutes in 425° oven.
  • Makes 1 dozen rolls.
