Ingredients

  • 1 (3 to 4 lbs) chuck or shoulder roast
  • 1 cup flour
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix

Method

  • Season flour with salt and pepper.
  • Coat roast with mixture, brown in oil on all sides in dutch oven.
  • Add water to top of roast.
  • Add onion soup mix and stir.
  • Bake in 325 degree oven 2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on size of roast.
  • Roast is done when it comes apart when pierced with a fork.
