Ingredients

  • 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach
  • 1/3 c. minced onion
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 6 oz. pasteurized processed cheese spread, cubed
  • 1/2 c. Pace picante sauce
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • crushed tortilla chips or toasted bread crumbs

Method

  • Cook spinach according to package directions.
  • Drain well, reserving 1/2 cup cooking liquid.
  • Cook onion in butter in large skillet until tender, about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add flour and cook and stir until bubbly.
  • Gradually add reserved spinach liquid and milk.
  • Cook and stir until thickened.
  • Stir in cheese.
  • Cook and stir until cheese melts.
  • Stir in Pace picante sauce, drained spinach and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Mix well.
