Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. instant onion
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 Tbsp. melted margarine

Method

  • Combine milk and onion in small mixing bowl.
  • Mix well and let stand 10 minutes.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, salt and pepper in large mixing bowl.
  • Add egg, cheese, butter and milk mixture. Stir only to moisten.
  • Spread batter evenly in a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Yields 15 servings.
