Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. warm milk
  • 3 pkg. yeast
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar

Method

  • Add yeast in big bowl; add water.
  • Let set 10 minutes.
  • Add warm milk, sugar and salt; stir until sugar and salt are dissolved.
  • Add oil, then add flour and mix until flour is taken up.
  • Put on well floured board and sprinkle top with flour and let it set for 10 minutes.
  • Knead until springy.
  • Put in oiled bowl; oil top of dough.
  • Cover and rise for 1 hour.
  • Punch down dough on floured board.
  • Pull off roll size bits of dough.
  • Shape into rolls and put on cooking sheet.
  • Oil tops of rolls and let rise 45 minutes.
  • Cook in 425° oven about 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Makes about 35 rolls.
  • You can half this recipe by using 2 packages of yeast and 1/3 cup water, then half everything remaining.
