Ingredients

  • 3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 4 1/2 c. whole milk

Method

  • Heat chocolate and water in a 1 1/2-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.
  • Stir in sugar and salt.
  • Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 4 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Stir in milk. Heat just until hot (do not boil).
  • Beat with hand beater until foamy or stir until smooth.
  • Serve immediately.
  • Serves about 6 (1 cup each).
