Ingredients
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2 c. plain flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. milk
Method
- Heat oven to 450°.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cut shortening into mixture until it is fine crumbs.
- Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl; round up into ball.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.
- Knead lightly 10 times.
- Roll or pat dough 1/2-inch thick.
- Cut with floured 2-inch biscuit cutter.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1-inch apart for crusty sides.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Makes about 16 biscuits.
