Ingredients
- 2 lb. smoked sausage, sliced
- 2 c. sliced okra (1/2 lb.)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 5 c. water
- 2 c. long grain rice, uncooked
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Method
- Cook first 3 ingredients in oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat 10 to 15 minutes or until sausage browns; drain.
- Add water and remaining ingredients.
- Bring to a boil.
- Cover.
- Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
