Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. oatmeal
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. coconut
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Cream together shortening and sugars.
  • Add eggs and beat. Sift together the flour, soda, salt and baking powder.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the shortening mixture.
  • Gradually, while beating, add remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheets.
  • Flatten a little with a fork.
  • Bake at 325° until lightly browned.
