Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 3/4 c. flour (plain)
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/3 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Cream together shortening and sugar.
  • Add well beaten eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and cocoa.
  • Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
  • Add vanilla and nuts.
  • Bake in 9-inch cake pan for 20 to 30 minutes at 350°.
