Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 (20 ounce) package ground turkey (at least 7% fat)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 13 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
Method
- 1.
- Preheat the oven to 350 *F. (175*C).
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with the olive oil, and place it in the oven while preheating.
- 2.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the ground turkey, egg, and bread crumbs using your hands.
- Using an ice cream scoop if possible, form the meat into golf ball sized meatballs.
- Place about 1 inch apart in the hot baking dish.
- Press down to flatten the bottom just slightly.
- 3.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then turn them over, and continue baking for about 5 more minutes, or until somewhat crispy on the outside.
- Serve with pasta and sauce or however you'd like.
- My Note: My daughter sent me this recipe.
- She loved it so much.
- I added 1/2 teaspoons sage, 2 tablespoons of grated parmesan, onion power, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Also, I added about 1/8 cup of water.
- It made the meatballs soooo delicious.
- * UPDAT: Maybe I should have been more specific about the fat content of the turkey but 99% fat free turkey does not work (I also tried to use it).
- The meat should have at least 7% fat.
- Sometime I used at meatloaf mix (beef/pork/veal), and added 2 TBSP of parmesan cheese and 2 tsp crushed garlic for extra flavor.
- Baked them according to the recipe then put them in a pot of sauce to simmer for a couple hours.
