Ingredients

  • 32 individually wrapped caramel squares
  • 2/3 c. (5 1/3 ounce. can) evaporated lowfat milk
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. quick oats, uncooked
  • 1 c. minced nuts
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 c. M & M plain chocolate candies

Method

  • Combine caramels and lowfat milk in heavy saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, till caramels are melted and mix is well blended.
  • Combine flour, oats, nuts, sugar, soda and salt; add in butter, mixing till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Reserve 1 c.; press remaining mix onto bottom of greased 13"x9" baking pan.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 10 min.
  • Sprinkle 1 c. candies over partially baked crust; add in remaining candies.
  • Continue baking 20 to 25 min or possibly till golden.
  • Cold slightly; refrigerate3 min.
  • Cut into bars.
