Ingredients

  • 1 (18 ounce) package white cake mix
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 14 cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons apple pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 teaspoon almond extract
  • buttercream icing

Method

  • Heat oven to 360 degrees.
  • Beat all of the ingredients together at a low speed with an electric mixer until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Increase speed to medium, and beat two minutes until batter is smooth, stopping to scrape down the bottom and sides of bowl as needed.
  • Pour batter into three greased and floured 8 inch cake pans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 22 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool pans on wire racks 5 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks and cool completely for about one hour.
  • Wrap in plastic wrap and freeze one hour or up to one month.
  • Spread Vanilla Buttercream icing between layers, on top, and up the sides of cake.
  • Garnish as desired.
