Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
- 1/2 c. lard
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 to 4 1/2 c. flour
Method
- Cream lard and sugar.
- Dissolve soda in boiling water; pour over sugar mixture.
- Stir and cool to room temperature.
- Add vanilla.
- Add flour until dough seems ready for rolling.
- Chill dough.
- Roll very thin; shape as desired.
- Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375° for about 10 minutes.
